Eighth Grade Art Exploratory (ArtX8)
This class is designed to allow students to explore a variety of artistic media and styles. Students will learn ways to express themselves and challenge their creativity. Emphasis is placed on the principles of design: emphasis, dominance, balance, contrast, proportion, rhythm, eye-flow, variety and harmony. Students are also given practice in recognizing, responding to content and expression in art as well as deliberately being expressive in one’s own art. Students will also learn about the four art disciplines; art history, aesthetics, art criticism, and art production.

Seventh Grade Art Exploratory (ArtX7)
This class is designed to allow students to explore a variety of artistic media and styles. Students will learn ways to express themselves and challenge their creativity. Emphasis is placed on the sensory elements of design; line, shape, space, color, value and texture as well as the Studio Habits of Art; craft, persistence, mental-imaging, expression, observation, reflection, exploration and art in community. Students will also learn about the four art disciplines; art history, aesthetics, art criticism, and art production.

Sixth Grade Art Exploratory (ArtX6)
This class is designed to help students experience success in the exploration and application of visual communication and visual thinking. Students will learn ways to express themselves and challenge their creativity. Sixth grade students are challenged to describe things visually in ways that are rapid and effective without necessarily demanding a high level of experience or skill. The goal is to help students to visualize and graphically organize their learning. They will also be introduced to methods of visual note-taking (sketchnoting) and bullet journaling as a means of helping them process information in future classes in middle school, high school and college.
